A Modern View of Biblical Women
with Gideon Amir

May 16,  and 23, June 6 7-8:30pm

Traditional reading of the Bible sees women in a minority, submissive role.  Tradition also “blames” women for the “sin” of Eve, when she not only ate from the forbidden fruit, but also tempted her husband to do so. However, modern scholarship and new ways of reading the same biblical texts suggest a different way of understanding the stories and a different view of the role and importance of biblical women. We will study several of these stories and see how a different approach to the text can lead to a better appreciation of the women of the Bible and their role in early history.

Please note: this class is being offered in-person only.
